Re: North Korea's leader's train in China

Rinlam,
Thanks for that info.
The shot is much larger than the one that I was looking at,so the classification and numbers were much easier to read, so now know what this loco is.
When will we see an HO model of this class?
Don't hold one's breath on this!

Bill,
Melbourne.

North Korea's leader's train in China

Folks,
Photos of the locos used on Kim IL Whatsit's special train in Beijing station show a double loco (articulated), numbered DF 12 (?), 2001.
Anything further known about this loco?
Is the other half loco No.2000?
Regards,
Bill,
Melbourne.

Steam loco models valve gear.

Folks, An interesting feature of the setting of the Walschaert valve gear on almost every N, HO, OO and O gauge steam loco model is that it is set in what is called the 'mid gear position'. To take this a bit further, a look at the Walschaert valve gear is in order. Starting at the driving wheel, of...

Yunnan-Kopei Railway map.

Folks, A long while ago I got an early map of the then 2'-0" gauge Yunnan-Kopei Rly, Kunming to the Vietnamese border. A fascinating line, appears to be very scenic, tunnels and bridges galore! The latitude and longitude figures on the map didn't seem to tie up with my atlas figures, I found out tha...

Attaching or posting photos, how to do so?

I have some shots that I'd like to send, but cannot work out how to do so.
They are in a general file called 'Documents'.
Any suggestions?

Bill,

Re: New locos - Delivery date?

Folks, In re the incorrect front step stiles on the new Bachmann JF 1, when I saw the shots of these model on the Lee Kwon site, the first thing that I thought was, where are the cut-outs? The white painting on these stiles show up this fault even more so. As written by others, how could Bachmann ma...

Re: QJ book

Folks,
Just got a copy of Robin Gibbon's QJ book.
348 pages, quite a big read, possibly twice the size of his previous two books.
Much info., plenty of pictures, a lot of research has gone into this work.

Bill,

Re: Kunming Railway Museum

Interesting list of exhibits in the Kunming Railway Museum. I see there a 2-6-4 tank engine, ex Burma Railways, classed ST. ST is a new classification to me, usually the double letter classifications are based on an actual class name. 2-6-4's were called, in Europe, but not the UK, 'Adriatics', but ...
