N27 W5SK boxcar

Post by bananacarril » 23 Sep 2014, 04:46

Noticed that a Chengdu taobao dealer shows an N27 W5SK boxcar available in three different colors - black, yellow, and red. Price is Rmb 120, so reasonable.

Never did find anybody offering the CMR B6 and B15 reefers, so those appear delayed.

As a followup to my previous posting, there must be something wrong with these new N27 cars. The posted price has dropped from Rmb 120 to Rmb 108 on one site, and only Rmb 85 on another. Furthermore, one of the sites has a notation in Chinese that if you want quality or perfection, DO NOT buy these cars!

Attached is a view of all three colors.

N27 W5SK boxcar is produced in three liveries yellow, brownish red and black with ten references. Namely,

8000000 yellow livery
8000008 yellow livery
8002094 yellow livery
8003034 yellow livery
8002008 yellow livery
8001883 yellow livery
8001885 brown livery
8001391 brown livery
8002708 black livery
8002666 black livery

It seems that each reference is produced in 100 pieces only.

Markings for the black and yellow versions are corresponding to the transport of dangerous goods.

Hi

Has anyone actually got one of these - any livery.

There were some warnings about avoiding these .... anyone know why?

I want some yellow ones but won't buy until I know what they're like.

These have appeared at EZTranscom at £10 GBP! However note says

ATTENTION : Total about 2000pcs (red, yellow, black) . ALL W5SK wagon is defect product. The body shell painting in general condition and parts may be damage and missing. Suitable for weathering. Therefore , N27 provide discount price for this W5SK

They appear in a white box and not the normal N27 box as above.

Does this mean there are 2 grades or are they all substandard?

I received one yellow wagon. The color and lettering is not so bad, although some lettering are a little "not sharp."
(but it is a freight car ...)
More problems with the wheels. Just as with the C70 the W5SK wheels are "too narrow". Especially in turnouts you can get problems.
With a bit of handwork you can put the wheels 1mm outwards, then they are OK...
the bogie you also have to filing off a little from the inside.
Not 100% quality, but still a nice model!

The last post tempted me :-)

As you can see some detailing is rough - just look at the ladder - but, there again, not far off some prototypes!

Seems to run OK but probably needs some attention to bogies. Can't really complain for the price.
