P61 again - the body master is now almost ready for taking a mould:

The underframe master is still under construction. It will have the snap-in openings for the MT #1202 underfrae details:

This is, in fact, far from prototypical, but it is a reasonable trade-off that saves a lot of time which I'd rather invest instead in, e.g., getting the HXN3 done at last...

Cheers,
Zsolt

Hello all,

Happy to see the forum up and running again - many thanks for the effort bringing it back online!

In the meantime, two of the DF7D were already completed, here go the pictures:

The green pair has to wait for some more weeks - these are busy times of the year for me.

As for a first impression: the units run reasonably well with the extra geared axles, and the pair does pull a passenger train of 6-8 coaches all right (haven't tried with more). Regard the locos as an experiment that started out with next to no data (not to speak of drawings), and some old GP38 chassis that would have otherwise remained unused in storage for quite some time... Now, having decent drawings of both the DF7D and the BJ (for the cab outlines), I'd have a better starting point - if someone takes a reasonably priced DF7 to market, I'll definitely contemplate doing a V2.0 of the DF7D model with correct details, possibly also a double-cab, cold-climate version.

Cheers,
Zsolt

Zsolt

Wow! Excellent work ... I'd never have the patience to build stock. Look forward to further developments 😀

Cheers Mark
