Water Cranes

Post by mjenderby » 18 Nov 2016, 18:10

Decided it was time to upgrade my water cranes from Peco to something that looked right so added a couple to my recent Taobao orders.

The first is a plastic kit with steps and platform https://world.taobao.com/item/414051747 ... mSite=main at Y79 plus service charges etc and the other is the MTC https://world.taobao.com/item/388339616 ... mSite=main at Y160.

The plastic kit is made of a rather hard plastic and castings are pretty rough, You have to glue the arm in position. I used quick-setting super glue rather than plastic cement.

The MTC version is brass with just the grids to fit. I hadn't realised that the arm doesn't pivot around the base of the loop but the latter is fixed. There's some nice detail which, I guess, is why it's so expensive.

These should be enough for Ni-Hao - wouldn't like to fund a larger layout!

I note that MTC also do a "platform" version at Y220 https://world.taobao.com/item/392923804 ... .57.T3o6uL which I think I'll avoid at >£30 (if I don't get hit by duty!).

Cheers

Mark
